Triumph TR4A Hood Frame
A lot has been written on the colour of the TR4A hood colour but no one actually knows the correct colour code. Here is what we know. Depends on wether it had a black or white hood originally. Black hood usually has a black frame. White hood normally has a light tan type of coloured frame, also the rear hood attachment plate will be matching colour. Difficult colour to match the light tan as there aren't any references. My car was supplied with a black hood but the frame was beige/tan. The beige/tan colour of the hood frame was to match the underside of the hood material which was beige/tan so rumour has it. Most TR2,3,4 models have the hood frame in body colour or satin black, TR4A models were originally finished in a beige/cream, TR5/6 models were finished in satin black - as far as we know. Below are some reference examples of the colours. We have decided to match the body colour as close as we can as I personally never liked the beige frame. You can see in the pictures of our frame the cross bars being painted the same colour as the bodywork (Triumph New White) and the frame is the beige/tan. As the hood is grey underneath it is all bit of a mix up. So our plan is to match the body and hood frame and be done with it:-)
A couple of reference pics from around the net.
Beige/Tan -Actual of the TR4A. Original colour could be darker than this.

The satin black for TR2,3,4, 5 & 6. Note the TR4A was the beige/tan. In any other colour is not original.

Here we have a body colour match that was done for the TR2,3 and 4. As we don't like the beige/tan we will be matching our body colour as close as we can although we are using powder coat and trying to match that to 2 pack.

The hood frame does not look too bad but the front rail is not so great so we will try and source new parts.
