Triumph TR4A Chrome work |
The rechroming has nearly all been done. There are a few things that need to be redone but it means sourcing better parts in the first place. We have not bought any new parts but rather refurb what we have. The bumpers and overriders have restored superbly. Great start with a few bits to do. Polishing was worked out not too bad either.

Grille
So I had the grill polished but I was really unhappy with the result. The issue is trying to get in to all of the nooks and crannies. So....The grill is off for chemical brightening and then re-anodising. The company doing the work will look at polishing first and if that will not work they will re=anodise.
American Market Bumper Accessories
When the TR4A Was launched in America, quite a few of the promotional cars had an extra bumper bar. The same was true of the TR4. I have found out from the TR4A Facebook Group that this was an accessory available at the time as an aftermarket purchase made by AMCO. The one on the TR4 below is only for the TR4 and the one shown on the TR4A works only on 4A and TR5 / 250. The TR4 ones show up on E-Bay once in a while but the 4A bar is almost impossible to find. Below you can see the AMCO Press Advertisement featuring the bumper bar. On the right, you can see the TR4A that has been purchased by Simon Bayes in the USA complete with the AMCO bar.

Our AMCO Triumph TR4A Bumper Bar
Our AMCO bar restored and fitted.
As our front anti-roll bar is n a slightly different place to some others the AMCO bar could not fit directly on the bolts. So, I made a pair of brackets to out of steel and painted them. You can see them in the close up sots.
Anodised Grille
The polished finish was not so great as the there were parts that could not be reached so......we went for a process called chemical brightening and then an anodised finish. The result is not too bad, not perfect by a long way but not too bad. New grilles will be available from Bastuck in Germany in around 3 years (Written 2016). They also have new panels for the TR4A amongst other things.
